April 13, 2003 Joseph shuts down Hofstra, snaps Pride's winning streak
The win snapped Hofstra's streak of 15 straight conference regular season wins and 18 straight wins over conference opponents. Lavandero singled to score freshman Kinsey Lowrey, who doubled down the left field line with two outs. Lavandero ripped the ball up the middle and Lowrey raced home from second. The throw by center fielder Heather Brousseu was on line, but catcher Meghan Almon couldn't come up with the handle as Lowrey scored. Joseph, meanwhile, was masterful in firing the shutout. She scattered five hits and three walks, while striking out two. She pitched out of trouble several times, including in the top of the seventh when Hofstra (21-12, 5-1) had runners at first and third with one out. But she got Brousseau to line out to third and then struck Lisa Wambold out looking to end the ball game.
