NEWARK, DE -- Liz Winslow's opposite field double into the left field corner scored pinch-runner Lauren Gardner from first in the bottom of the seventh to complete a doubleheader sweep of Rutgers (23-20) on Wednesday, 7-1 and 4-3, at Delaware Field. Winslow's heroics made a winner out of Jenn Joseph for the second time on Wednesday. Joseph picked up the win with a three-hit complete game effort in the opener and stopped a Rutgers threat in the top of the seventh to earn the win in the nightcap. Laurie Erickson had four hits in the doubleheader, while Joseph, a product of nearby Brandywine HS, and Winslow each had three. Winslow also collected a pair of RBI in the first game. Laura Streets also smacked her eighth home run of the season in the opener, a solo shot in the sixth. Delaware, which had been struggling at the plate as of late and entering the day hitting just .215 as a team, smacked 22 hits, 11 in each game, on the afternoon. Nicki Childress, Rutgers' leading hitter entering the day at .457, had two hits in the nightcap to finish the afternoon 2-for-5. The Blue Hens (18-18-1) host Towson in a key Colonial Athletic Association series this weekend. The three-game set begins with a doubleheader on Saturday at 12 noon.
