Saint Joseph's 5, Delaware 3 Saint Joseph's 3, Delaware 1 March 18, 2003   NEWARK, DE -- Brandie Adams and Dana Travis each fired four-hitters to silence a hot-hitting Delaware squad and lead Saint Joseph's to a softball doubleheader sweep, 5-3 and 3-1, Tuesday at Delaware Field. In the opener, Travis settled down after allowing a pair of first inning runs. She held Delaware to just two hits and one run the rest of the way. The Hawks, meanwhile, took advantage of four Delaware errors to score twice in the second and three times in the third. Delaware had a chance to tie in the bottom of the seventh. After Heather Wrenn's RBI double made it a 5-3 game, Travis battled back to strike out Laura Streets and coax Melissa Basilio into a ground out to end the game. In the second game, Brandie Adams kept Delaware off balance for six innings before the game was called because of darkness. After the Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on Alicia Cunic's RBI double, Delaware tied the game in the bottom of the fourth on Laurie Erickson's RBI single. However, that tie was short lived as the Hawks scored twice in the top of the fifth, chasing losing pitcher Lindsay Jones (2-2). Back-to-back RBI doubles by Lindsey McNamara and Cunic gave the visitors a 3-1 lead. Delaware threatened in the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded and two outs, however, Adams got pinch-hitter Randi Isaacs to ground out to end the ball game. The game was called because of darkness after that. In the nightcap, Streets had her hitting streak snapped at 14 consecutive games dating back to last season.
