Delaware 2, Towson 1 (8) May 4, 2003   NEWARK, DE -- Freshman Lindsay Jones hurled 2-2/3 innings of shutout relief and Laura Streets ripped a one out double to score Kelley Pastic with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth as Delaware slipped past Towson, 2-1, in CAA softball action Sunday afternoon. Streets, a junior from Newark, DE, smacked her double into the gap in right-center, which easily scored Pastic from second after Jones had come in and slammed the door on the Tigers (27-20-1, 8-7 CAA). Entering the game with one out and runners at second and third in the top of the sixth, Jones struck out the final two batters and then held Towson off the scoreboard in the seventh and eighth innings until Streets' heroic hit in the bottom of the eighth. It was Jones, a freshman from South Milwaukee, WI, who fired a four-hit shutout on Saturday to clinch a CAA Softball Tournament berth in Delaware's 4-0 win over Towson. She is now 8-5 on the season with a 2.16 ERA. After not allowing a walk on Sunday, she has 64 strikeouts and seven walks in 94 innings of work. She has issued just one walk in her last 23-2/3 innings of work. Delaware (20-19-1, 8-7 CAA) took a 1-0 lead in the fifth after Brooke May hit a pinch-hit double off the center field wall and scored on a Jenn Joseph RBI single. Towson, however, tied the game in the top of the sixth on Chris Navarro's RBI double that chased Joseph and brought Jones out of the bullpen.
