Delaware Senior Centerfielder Katie Lee Named To All-Colonial Athletic Association Softball Second Team

HEMPSTEAD, NY -- University of Delaware senior centerfielder Katie Lee (at right) was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association Softball Second Team at the conference awards banquet Wednesday night.

Lee, who started all but one game in centerfield for the Blue Hens this season, led the team with a .365 batting average, 46 hits, 22 walks and 19 stolen bases while tying for the team lead with 32 run scored and eight doubles. Her 19 stolen bases tied for second in the CAA, while her .365 batting average ranked second in the league. Lee’s 17 runs scored in conference only games led all players in the CAA.

Lee’s 19 stolen bases are tied for third place in a single season at Delaware, while her 32 runs scored are tied for fourth in a single season.

Lee recorded nine two-hit games and four three-hit games for the Blue Hens this season, and recorded a team-best nine-game hitting streak from March 26 through April 6. She went 3 for 3 with a double and a run scored against Central Connecticut on March 15, and was 3 for 4 with a pair of runs scored versus Drexel on April 5. She finished 3 for 3 with a run scored in a win over UMBC on April 30 and closed her career by going 3 for 4 with a triple, run scored and two stolen bases at James Madison on May 4.

Lee appeared in 200 career games as a Blue Hen, second all-time at Delaware, while her 199 career games started is tied for the school record. She currently ranks second in UD history with 105 runs scored and 51 stolen bases, seventh with 533 at bats, eighth with 152 hits, ninth with 204 total bases, 10th with 24 doubles, tied for 13th with four home runs, and 18th with a .285 batting average.

Lee led the Blue Hens to a 22-26 overall record this season and a 4-17 mark in the CAA.
