NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware softball assistant coach Adrienne Clark has announced her resignation to take a similar position at Columbia University.
Clark served for three seasons under Blue Hen head coach B.J. Ferguson, serving as the Blue Hens’ pitching coach. She also worked with the Delaware outfielders, ran individual hitting sessions, oversaw the Blue Hens’ recruiting process and served as the team’s first base coach.
Clark made an immediate impact during her first season at Delaware in 2006, as the Blue Hens led the Colonial Athletic Association with a 2.03 earned run average. Delaware went 33-24 that season, tied for the second most wins in a year in school history, and advanced to the CAA Tournament.
The Blue Hens went 16-26-3 during the 2007 season and were 22-26 last season.
Clark, 25, who earned her bachelor’s degree from Hofstra Univesity in May, 2005, was one of the top pitchers in Hofstra history and was a member of Pride teams that won four straight CAA titles. She was a two-time first team All-CAA selection, a three-time CAA All-Tournament Team selection, and a 2004 NFCA All-Mid Atlantic Region Team honoree.
