RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware sophomore third baseman Michelle Grap (at right) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week while freshman Amanda Stacevicz earned conference Rookie of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday.
Grap went 2 for 3 with two runs scored, a double and a walk in the Blue Hens’ 2009 season opener on Friday, a 5-4 loss to Siena at the East Carolina Pirate Classic. Grap also worked a base on balls during Delaware’s 1-0 setback to Fordham later in day, and hit .400 on the day.
Stacevicz started in the circle against the Rams, and allowed just one run on four hits while striking out five batters in her Blue Hen pitching debut.
Delaware, which is 0-2 on the season, returns to action this Saturday and Sunday with four games at the Marshall University Tournament.
