RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware sophomore third baseman Michelle Grap was named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Grap, a native of Ellicott City, Md. (Centennial HS), led the Blue Hens with a .615 batting average and eight hits during Delaware’s four games last week.

She went 2 for 3 with an RBI in Delaware’s 7-3 victory over Delaware State last Wednesday, and was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored in the 10-1 win over the Hornets in the nightcap of the doubleheader. Grap finished 3 for 4 with a run scored in the Blue Hens’ 8-6 triumph over Georgia State Sunday, and went 2 for 3 with a double, RBI and run scored in the second game against the Panthers.

Grap, who already has nine multi-hit games this season, is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak.

Grap has started all 19 games for UD so far this season, posting a team-high .407 batting average, 22 hits and 11 runs batted in. She currently ranks third in the league in batting average, fourth with a .459 on base percentage, and eighth with a .519 slugging percentage. Additionally Grap is hitting a CAA-best .647 in conference games, with 11 hits in 17 at bats during the Blue Hens’ five league games.

The award is the second of the season for Grap, who was also named the conference Player of the Week on March 3.

Kayleigh Lotti of Hofstra was named the CAA Pitcher of the Week, while Paige Collings of Drexel earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors.

Grap and the Blue Hens host Villanova in a doubleheader Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Delaware Field.
