RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware freshman pitcher Amanda Stacevicz was named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Stacevicz, a native of Cedar Grove, N.J. (Mt. St. Dominic Academy), went 1-1 with a 2.33 earned run average during three appearances in the circle for the Blue Hens last week.
Stacevicz earned her first career victory during last Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Lehigh, as she fired a one-hit shutout against the Mountain Hawks. She allowed six runs, five earned, on 10 hits while striking out a season-high eight batters during Delaware’s 6-4, nine-inning loss Saturday to James Madison. Stacevicz gave up one run on two hits in two innings of relief versus the Dukes on Sunday.
The award was the second of the season for Stacevicz, who was also named the league’s Rookie of the Week on March 4. Shannon Moxey of James Madison was named the league’s Player of the Week, while Kayleigh Lotti of Hofstra earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
Stacevicz and the Blue Hens, who are 5-10 overall and 1-2 in the conference this season, travel to in-state rival Delaware State on Wednesday for a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader with the Hornets.
