RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware freshman pitcher Amanda Stacevicz was named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Stacevicz, a native of Cedar Grove, N.J. (Mount St. Dominic Academy), went 2-1 with a 1.40 earned run average in three appearances on the week. She allowed just four earned runs on 19 hits in 20 innings of work, striking out 12 batters while walking just two.

Stacevicz opened the week by allowing one run on seven hits in a complete game victory on Wednesday as the Blue Hens defeated Army, 3-1, in the first game of a doubleheader. She took the loss Saturday at George Mason after giving up three runs on 11 hits in UD’s 3-1 defeat to the Patriots.

Stacevicz fired a one-hit shutout on Sunday at Mason, recording her 10th victory and fifth shutout of the season. She allowed only a second inning double and struck out four Patriots in the Blue Hens’ 6-0 triumph.

Stacevicz is now 10-9 with a 1.40 earned run average on the season for Delaware, and has posted 84 strikeouts this year.

The award was the fifth of the season for Stacevicz, who was also named the CAA Rookie of the Week on March 3 and March 23. She earned both Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors on April 13.

Julia Dominguez of James Madison and Danielle Roddy of Georgia State were named the CAA Co-Players of the Week, while Kayleigh Lotti of Hofstra earned CAA Pitcher of the Week honors.

Stacevicz and the Blue Hens conclude their 2009 regular season with a 2 p.m. doubleheader Wednesday at UMBC and a three-game series at Hofstra this Friday and Saturday.
