RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware second baseman Allison Borchers, pitcher Carolynn Sloat, and third baseman Laura Streets were named to the Colonial Athletic Association Silver Anniversary Softball team announced by the conference last week.

As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration in 2009-10, the CAA is recognizing Silver Anniversary teams in 21 championship sports. The 25-player teams are selected by a panel of current and former coaches in the conference. Softball has been a championship sport in the CAA since 2002.

Borchers (above right), a native of Fallston, Md., currently is tied for third in Blue Hen history with 99 runs scored, fourth with 92 RBI, and tied for fourth with 181 hits. She also is fifth with 242 total bases, seventh with a .324 batting average, tied for seventh with 11 triples and eight home runs, and eighth 19 stolen bases.

Borchers made an immediate impact with the Blue Hens in 2005, when she was selected second team All-CAA and tabbed the league’s Rookie of the Year after posting a .329 batting average. She followed with a remarkable sophomore campaign, batting .382 while recording 73 hits, a school record and 11 more than the previous record. Borchers, who also set UD single-season records with 105 total bases and 36 runs scored, was named first team All-CAA and first team All-Mid Atlantic Region. She batted .278 during her junior year in 2007 and wrapped up her career by hitting .256 during the 2008 season.

Sloat had an outstanding freshman season in 2004, when she earned first team All-CAA and second team All-Mid Atlantic Region honors after winning 18 games and posting a 1.42 earned run average. She won 16 games and threw eight shutouts while recording a 1.88 ERA as a sophomore, and was again named to the all-region second team in 2006 after winning 19 games and posting a 1.85 ERA as a junior. Sloat capped her career by winning 10 games and recording a 2.19 ERA during the 2007 campaign.

Streets, a native of Newark, Del., still holds UD career records with 47 doubles, 16 home runs and 291 total bases. She also ranks second with 186 hits, second with 103 RBI, fourth with a .352 batting average, and tied for 10th with 80 runs scored.

Streets batted .342 during her junior year, and she set the UD single-season record by belting eight home runs on the campaign. She posted a stellar senior year in 2004, when she was named the CAA Player of the Year. Streets, who was also a first team all-conference and first team all-region selection that year, batted .395 with a school single-season record 19 doubles.
