Delaware 2 Bucknell 1 Delaware 4 Bucknell 1   Delaware Softball Sweeps Doubleheader Against Bucknell   The University of Delaware softball team improved to 9-5 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Bucknell University (3-10). Delaware won the first game of the doubleheader 2-1. The Hens jumped on the board early with a run in the first. Mandy Welsh (LaPlata, MD/McDonough) singled and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Welsh was driven home on a Lauren Mark (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline) single. Delaware added an insurance run in the fifth when Mark got her second rbi of the game when she drove home Chris Brady (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem). Kristi O'Connell (Elmsford, NY/Good Council Acad.) held Bucknell scoreless through the first six innings. Bucknell scored its lone run on an error in the top of the seventh. O'Connell struck out five and allowed five hits for the victory. Bucknell's Stacey Waite picked up the loss. Delaware came from behind to win the second half of the doubleheader. Bucknell jumped out to 1-0 lead in the top of third when Jenna Demetriades singled home Jenny Synder. The Hens responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. The inning started with a Chris Brady double followed by a Laurie Brosnahan (Newark, DE/Glasgow) single. Lauren Mark drove both runners in on a triple. Mark scored later in the inning off a fielders choice. The Hens scored one more run in the sixth when pinch hitter Michelle Stack (Churchton, MD/Archbishop Spalding) drove in pitch runner Beth Baugher (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy). Krysta Pidstawski (Allentown, PA/Parkland) got the victory for the Hens while Bucknell's Lauren Potente picked up the loss.
