Volleyball Downs LaSalle 3-1 to Reach
20-Win Mark
PHILADELPHIA
(November 2, 2004) -- The University of
Delaware volleyball team won it's fourth
straight match, defeating La Salle 3-1
(31-29, 27-30, 30-23, 30-21) Tuesday night
at Gola Arena to record it's 20th win of
the season, a feat that hasn't been
accomplished since 1997.
The
Blue Hens are now 20-6 on the season, 7-3
in the Colonial Athletic Association,
while La Salle drops to 8-20.
Val
Murphy (Round Hill, VA/Loudoun Valley) led
the attack for Delaware, hitting .341 in
the match. She posted 19 kills, six blocks
and one assist for 23.5 points. Colonial
Athletic Association Rookie of the Week
Colleen Walsh (Cleveland, OH/Regina)
followed, hitting .233 with 15 kills and
three blocks.
Megan
Welch (Yorba Linda, CA/Esperanza)
continued to see action as she tallied 31
assists while Allison Lutz (Burnsville,
MN/Burnsville), in limited action, notched
19. Taylor Govaars (Balboa, CA/Newport
Harbor) added 28 digs while Claire
McCormack (Downers Grove, MN/Downers Grove
South) recorded 11.
Abby
Means led the Explorers in kills with 16
while Samantha Takacs tallied 12. Amanda
Woods led La Salle in assists with 45
while Caitlin DeJong held down the teams
defense with 25.
Delaware
returns home on November 5 at 7 p.m. to
take on conference rival James
