of Delaware Volleyball Team Defeats
Villanova, 3-1
NEWARK,
DE (October 5, 2004) -- The University of
Delaware volleyball team defeated
Villanova University 3-1 (30-22, 28-30,
30-26, 33-31) Tuesday night at Barbara
Viera Court to extend its win streak to
seven games and remain undefeated at
home.
Colleen
Walsh (Cleveland, Oh/Regina) led the way
for the Blue Hens with 21 kills and three
blocks totaling 22.5 points. Val Murphy
(Round Hill, VA/Loudoun Valley) followed
with 18 kills and three blocks as she
totaled 19.5 points. Sarah Engle (Yorba
Linda, CA/Esperanza) posted a
double-double for Delaware with 13 kills
and 12 digs.
Allison
Lutz (Burnsville, MN/Burnsville - at
right) recorded 53 assists and four
service aces on the evening while Taylor
Govaars (Balboa, CA/Newport Harbor) led
the team with 17 digs. Colonial Athletic
Association Player of the Week Niecy
Taylor (Albuquerque, NM/Cibola) tallied
nine blocks.
For
the Wildcats, Adrian Semrau led the
offense with 16 kills as celine Ngyuen
posted 13. Jen Lalli recorded 41 assists
as Megan Bye and Dana Kabashma both posted
16 digs.
Delaware,
who is now on the season, will face
Virginia Commonwealth on Wednesday,
October 8 at 7 p.m. in Richmond,
VA.
