of Delaware Volleyball Blanks William
& Mary, 3-0
WILLIAMSBURG,
VA (October 30, 2004) -- The University of
Delaware volleyball team won it's
third-straight 3-0 match by defeating
William & Mary Saturday by scores of
30-25, 30-28, 30-22.
This
marks the first time this season that
Delaware has recorded two-straight
conference wins on the road.
The
Blue Hens are 18-6 on the season, 7-3 in
the Colonial Athletic Association, while
William & Mary drops to 13-11 (5-6
CAA)
Colleen
Walsh (Cleveland, OH/Regina) (at right)
led the attack for Delaware posting 13
kills on 34 tries. She was backed up by
Val Murphy (Round Hill, VA/Loudoun Valley)
who notched 11 kills on 25 attempts and
added three blocks. Niecy Taylor
(Albuquerque, NM/Cibola) continued to
dominate at the front of the net for the
Hens as she tallied five
blocks.
Allison
Lutz (Burnsville, MN/Burnsville) tallied
nine assists for the Hens before stepping
out of the match late in game two,
allowing Megan Welch (Yorba Linda,
CA/Esperanza) the opportunity to rack up
24 assists, her season high. Taylor
Govaars (Balboa, CA/Newport Harbor) added
20 digs while Claire McCormack (Downers
Grove, MN/Downers Grove South) recorded
13.
Megan
Hector led the Tribe in kills with 11
while Caitlin Geraghty played tough at the
net to tally seven blocks as William &
Mary out-blocked Delaware 11-9.
Delaware
continues road play on November 2 at 7
p.m. when they step out of conference play
to face La Salle.
