The University of Delaware volleyball team
closed out the regular season Tuesday with a 3-1
defeat at the hands of American University The loss
drops Delaware's record to 15-20 on the season
while American, an NCAA Tournament entry last
season, improved to 26-5. The Blue Hens lost the
first game 15-2 but came back strong in the second
game 15-13. American went to win the third and
fourth games 15-2, 15-4. The Hens were led by
Cameo Neeman (Wilmington, Del./Ursuline
Academy) who had nine kills and seven blocks.
Amy Carroll (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury HS) had
eight kills and four blocks for the Hens. Five
different players had four digs to lead the Blue
Hens. Sadie Bjornstad (Rockford,
Ill./Boylan HS) had 26 assists to lead Delaware.
American was lead by Ajola Berisha who had 21
kills. Heather Wintermeyer had 14 digs to lead the
Eagles. Delaware returns to action on Saturday at 2
p.m. when they face New Hampshire in the
semi-finals of the America East Championship at
Hofstra University.
