The University of Delaware women's volleyball team played a day game and a night game at the Carpenter Sports Building today. The Blue Hens dropped an important conference match to Northeastern 3-2. With a win Delaware, could have clinched a berth in the America East Tournament. The Blue Hens will still make the four-team America East tournament unless they lose to Hartford tommorow and Towson beats Northeastern tommorow. In the first match Delaware took a 2-1 lead in the first three games by winning 16-14, 9-15 and 17-15. However the Blue Hens lost momentum in the fourth game when they lost 15-2. Northeastern pulled out the fifth game 15-9 to win the match and keep Delaware's America East tournament berth up in the air. In the first match Delaware was led by Jennifer Wanner (Conestoga Valley/Akron, Pa.) who had 19 kills, 11 digs and four blocks. Margaret Lapinski (Brandywine/Wilmington, Del.) also had a big match with 14 kills and eight digs. Sadie Bjornstad (Boylan/Rockford, Ill.) led the Blue Hens with 57 assists. Northeastern was led by Gianina Pellegrini who had 20 kills, 11 digs and nine blocks.
