Delaware vs. Temple Sept. 30, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. W 3-2
The University of Delaware volleyball
fell behind Temple, 2-0 but rallied to defeat the
Owls, 3-2. Delaware, who improved to 7-11, lost the
first two sets of the match 15-2 and 15-10. They
came back to take third set 15-9. In the fourth
set, the Blue Hens fought five Temple match points
and eventually take the set 17-15. Delaware was
victorious in the fifth set 15-11 to win the match.
The Delaware attack was led by Jennifer Wanner
(Akron, Pa./Conestoga Valley HS) who had 20 kills,
eight digs, and seven blocks. Cameo Neeman
(Wilmington, Del./Urusline Academy) pitched in with
14 blocks. America East Player of the Week Kristen
Merrill (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph's HS) had six
kills and 22 digs.
Temple (8-4) was led by Alma Kovsci
who had 30 kills and 15 digs. Karla Jones also had
a double-double with 12 kills and 19 digs.
Enkeleida Shkova had 21 kills.
