Heather Ness recorded 13 kills and 10 digs

NEWARK, DE -- Stefanie Rewitz recorded match-highs of 16 kills and 12 digs to lead the Hofstra University volleyball team to a 3-1 (15-8, 3-15, 15-13, 15-10) win Sunday afternoon over the University of Delaware at Barbara Viera Court in Newark.

Margaret Lapinski led Delaware with 19 kills and eight digs, and Heather Ness had a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs for the Blue Hens (14-16, 7-7 America East).

After falling in the first game, the Blue Hens dominated The Pride (19-10, 14-0), in the second game and led 13-10 in the third, but Hofstra won the last five points and won a hard-fought fourth game to take the victory.

Allison Hunter notched 50 assists and nine digs for the Blue Hens, who are now a full game behind Towson in the race for the fourth and final spot in the conference tournament.

Kurtisa Shaw had 16 kills, and April Nick added 12 kills and eight blocks for Hofstra.

Delaware will return to action Friday when the Hens host Maine at 7 p.m. at Barbara Viera Court. The match will be Senior Night.
