Liz Ommundsen recorded 10 kills

 

ORONO, ME -- Freshman Liz Ommundsen (Northport, NY/Northport) recorded 10 kills and four service aces to lead the University of Delaware volleyball team past the University of Maine, 3-0 (15-11, 15-10, 15-7), Friday night in Orono.

Delaware (11-12, 4-3 America East) was paced by freshman Allison Hunter, who led the Blue Hens with 25 assists and 14 digs. Hunter also posted six kills and no attack errors on nine attempts for a hitting percentage of .667, and Heather Ness turned in a strong performance with six aces and nine digs.

Maine (9-11, 2-4) was led by Leah Voss, who notched a match-high 20 kills.

Jennifer Wanner was one of five Hens who recorded six kills, and she also added seven blocks. Margaret Lapinski added six kills and nine digs for Delaware.

Delaware will continue its road trip Sunday when the Hens travel to Boston to take on Northeastern in a 1 p.m. match.
