Margaret Lapinski recorded a double-double vs. North Carolina

 

CHAPEL HILL, NC -- The University of Delaware volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in the Carolina/Nike Classic Saurday, losing to host North Carolina, 3-0, and falling to Louisville, 3-0.

In the opener, Krista Buchholz recorded nine kills to lead the Tar Heels (9-1) past the Blue Hens by game scores of 15-5, 15-2, and 15-5. Malaika Underwood added 13 digs and Lisa Fryer recorded 12 digs.

Delaware was paced by senior Margaret Lapinski, who had 10 kills and 10 digs. Jennifer Wanner added eight kills and 10 digs, and Heather Ness also recorded 10 digs.

In the second match, Anatasia Zaitseva and Sonja Percan each recorded 16 kills to lead Louisville (8-3) over Delaware (2-8) by game scores of 15-10, 15-5, and 15-3.

Jennifer Wanner had a match-high 17 kills and added five digs for the Hens. Cameo Neeman notched nine kills and eight digs. Wanner had nine kills in a 3-0 loss Friday to Santa Clara, which is ranked 21st in this week's USA Today/AVCA Coaches' Poll.

Delaware will return to action Wednesday night for its home opener. The Hens will host Villanova at Viera Court in the Carpenter Sports Building at 7 p.m.
