past Dukes to keep playoffs hopes alive

NEWARK, DE -- Needing to win in
order to maintain a possible berth in the Colonial Athletic
Association Championship Tournament, the University of
Delaware's volleyball squad swept James Madison University
30-13, 30-27, 30-27 in the Blue Hens regular season finale
at Viera Court Friday evening.
Leading the way with 12 kills, senior
Cameo Neeman (Wilmington, DE/Ursuline) sparked the Blue Hens
to only their second three-game sweep of the season. With
that kill total, Neeman claims sole possession of fifth
place among UD's all-time kills leaders with 1,239 career
kills.
Also contributing in the winning effort
sophomore Sara Kearns (Newark, DE/St.Mark's) added 10 kills
and a .529 hitting percentage, while sophomore Allison
Hunter (Sandy, UT/Layton) chipped in five kills, six digs
and six blocks to go along with her 31 assists.
For the Dukes (5-6, 10-12) senior
Danielle Heinbaugh led the attack with 13 kills and five
digs.
Should James Madison lose at Hofstra
University tomorrow evening, the Blue Hens (10-15, 5-7)
would own the tie-breaker over the Dukes, thereby qualifying
as the fourth seed in the four-team CAA Championship
tournament to be held at George Mason University in Fairfax,
VA on November 17-18. If JMU defeats Hofstra, then the Dukes
would receive the final bid to the tournament since they
would have one more conference victory than
Delaware.
