kills helped the Blue Hens keep their CAA playoff
hopes alive.

RICHMOND, VA -- Sara Kearns' 24 kills and
Cameo Neeman's 19 kills, 15 digs and five blocks sparked a
rally and led the University of Delaware to a 3-2 win over
Virginia Commonwealth in Colonial Athletic Association
volleyball action Friday afternoon.
The Blue Hens lost the opening game,
30-26, before evening the match with a 30-27 win in the
second game. VCU (7-16, 0-9 CAA) looked to be in control,
though, when it won the third game, 30-20. However, Delaware
rallied to win the last two games, 30-26 and 15-7, to make a
winner of interim head coach Sue Stauffer in her
debut.
Freshman Taylor Govaars also added 13
kills and 17 digs as Delaware (8-14, 4-6) kept its hopes
alive for a CAA Tournament bid. The Blue Hens trail James
Madison (4-5 in CAA action) by 1/2-game for the fourth
tournament spot. The two teams still meet on November 9 in
Newark. James Madison plays host to UNC Wilmington tomorrow
before road games against Delaware next Friday and Hofstra
next Saturday.
Delaware will take on William & Mary
in another key CAA match at 2 p.m. Saturday.
