Oct. 5, 2001 Late charge is thwarted by Tribe
NEWARK, DE -- The College of William & Mary held off a late comeback attempt by Delaware and handed the Blue Hens their 11th overall loss, 3-1, Friday night at Viera Court in Newark. The Tribe (10-3, 4-0) got off to a roaring start, taking the first two games 30-14 and 30-26. But Delaware (3-11, 0-3) charged back taking the third game 32-30. The Blue Hens mounted an early lead in the fourth game only to have it slip away, as William & Mary rallied to win 31-29., finishing the match 3-1. The Tribe was paced by senior Tara Tobias' 22 kills and 14 digs.. For the Blue Hens, senior Cameo Neeman (Wilmington, DE/Ursuline) added 13 kills, which moved her into ninth place all-time among kills leaders in Blue Hen history with 1, 059. She needs 11 more kills to pass Kathy Shaw (1992-94) for eighth place. The Blue Hens return to action Sunday, when they travel up to Hempstead, NY, to take on Hofstra. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
