Star in Setback for UD
HARRISONBURG, VA -- The University
of Delaware volleyball team was defeated by James Madison
Sunday afternoon, 3-1, in a Colonial Athletic Association
game at Sinclair Gymnasium.
The Dukes (17-8, 12-2) won games one
(30-17), three (30-15) and four (30-26), while Delaware won
game two (32-30). With the loss, the Blue Hens fall to 6-8
in CAA action and 9-16 overall with their third straight
loss.
Freshman Jennifer Daniels
(Lakewood, CA) led three Blue Hens in double-figures in
kills with 15, while junior Liz Ommundsen (Northport,
NY) had 11 and sophomore Sarah Engle (Yorba Linda,
CA) notched 10.
JMU, which hit .374 as a team, including
a .593 mark (25 kills, two errors) in the fourth game,
posted four players in double-figures in kills, led by
Larissa Winkler's 18 and Kate Fuchs 16, while Dana Jones
recored 14 kills, nine digs, and six blocks.
The Blue Hens return to action Wednesday
night when they host Temple University. Delaware will also
honor its three seniors - Jessica Bradosky, Sarah
Kearns and Jackie Vaught - in a pre-game
ceremony, as they will be playing their last home game.
Match time is set for 7 p.m.
