Blue Hens Drop Fourth Straight

NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware volleyball team was defeated by Temple University, 3-1, Wednesday night at Viera Court at Carpenter Sports Building.

Temple (20-5) won games one (30-24), three (30-13) and four (30-18), while Delaware took game two (30-22).

Junior Liz Ommundsen (Northport, NY) posted 12 kills for the Blue Hens (9-17), which lost their fourth-straight contest after winning six out of seven. Junior Allison Hunter (Sandy, UT) notched 34 assists and 10 digs for Delaware, while junior Valerie Murphy (Round Hill, VA) recorded eight kills.

Temple was led by Xu Yun with 21 kills and nine digs, while Allison Runk notched four kills, 52 assists and four digs.

Before the game, the Blue Hens paid tribute to their three seniors - Sarah Kearns, Jessica Bradosky and Jackie Vaught - each of whom played the last home game of their careers tonight.

The Blue Hens return to action next Tuesday, November 12, when they travel to Maryland to battle Colonial Athletic Association rival Towson. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
