TOWSON, MD -- The University of
Delaware volleyball team fell to Colonial Athletic
Association rival Towson University Tuesday night, 3-1, at
the Towson Center.
The Tigers (21-9, 8-7) took game one
(33-31) and two (30-17) before the Blue Hens (9-18, 6-9)
fought back to won game three (30-28). Towson then closed
out the match with a 30-23 win in game four.
Delaware was led by sophomore Sarah
Engle (Yorba Linda, CA) with 13 kills, while junior
Liz Ommundsen (Northport, NY) notched 13 kills and 15
digs. Engle hit .321 for the match with just four errors in
28 attempts. Allison Hunter (Sandy, UT) chipped in
with 46 assists.
Towson had four players in double-figures
in kills, led by April Hoffman and Jordann Tomasek with 20
each.
The Blue Hens, who have now lost five
straight matches, close out the 2002 regular season Sunday
afternoon when they travel to North Carolina to battle
UNC-Wilmington. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
The CAA Tournament will be held Nov.
22-24 at James Madison University in Harrisonburg,
VA.
