Blue Hens Fall To 0-3
in 2003
CHARLESTON, SC -- The University
of Delaware volleyball team dropped its final game at the
College of Charleston Invitational Saturday morning, 3-1, to
Texas Christian University at Kresse Arena.
Texas Christian took game one, 30-26,
game two, 30-26, and game three, 30-24.
Dominika Szabo led posted a double-double
for TCU (2-1) with 15 kills and 13 digs, while Ellen Rehme
notched 12 kills, six digs and three block assists. Tori
Barlow added 30 assists for TCU, who was meeting Delaware
for the first time in school history.
Delaware received nine kills from junior
co-captain Valerie Murphy (Round Hill, VA) and seven
from junior Sarah Engle (Yorba Linda, CA), sophomore
Meghan McGreath (Gibsonia, PA) and freshman Claire
McCormack (Downers Grove, IL). In addition, freshman
Heather Ranck (Chambersburg, PA) recorded 10
digs.
Delaware senior Allison Hunter (Sandy,
UT) posted 100 assists during the C of C Invitational
and has now climbed into third place on UD's all-time assist
list with 2,648, passing Sadie Bjornstad (1996-99), who
finished her career with 2,571.
The Blue Hens (0-3) return to action
September 5 when they travel to Albuquerque, NM to
participate in the New Mexico Tournament. Delaware will take
on Alcorn State on Friday, Sept. 6 at 5 p.m., and both
Youngstown State (10 a.m.) and New Mexico (7:30 p.m.) on
Saturday.
