Down 2-0, Blue Hens
Rally To Win in Five Games
PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Junior captain
Valerie Murphy posted 16 kills as the University of
Delaware volleyball team rallied from a two games to none
deficit to down Temple University Tuesday night, 3-2, at
McGonigle Hall.
After dropping the first two sets to the
Owls, 30-21 and 30-18, the Blue Hens (4-6) bounced back and
captured games three (30-23), four (30-21) and five (15-12)
to capture their second straight win.
The last time the Blue Hens rallied from
a 2-0 deficit to win a match was against the Towson Tigers
on November 7, 2001 at the Towson Center.
Senior Liz Ommundsen and sophomore
Niecy Taylor each added 12 kills for Delaware, while
freshman Claire McCormack notched seven kills and
senior Allison Hunter registered 12 digs and 38
assists. Additionally, sophomore Taylor Govaars had
12 digs.
Temple, who qualified for the NCAA
Tournament last season, had four players in double-figures
in kills, led by Xu Yun and Yamit Haba, who each posted
13.
The Blue Hens return to action on
September 25 when they being conference play at Hofstra.
Match time is set for 7 p.m.
