November 14, 2003 Goubeaux, Miller Help Towson Eliminate Delaware From Playoff Contention Sophomore Niecy Taylor
led Delaware in kills with 10. NEWARK, DE -- Sarah Miller and Liz Goubeaux posted 14 kills each and Mary Clare Coghlan registered 39 assists as Towson University defeated the University of Delaware volleyball team, 3-0, Friday night in Colonial Athletic Association action at Viera Court. The loss eliminates the Blue Hens (11-16, 5-8 CAA) from playoff contention while Towson won for the 20th time in its last 21 games, upping its overall record to 22-5 and a perfect 13-0 in CAA play. Sophomore Niecy Taylor led Delaware with 10 kills and two blocks while junior Valerie Murphy added nine kills and fellow junior Megan McGrath posted seven. The Blue Hens conclude their 2003 season Saturday night when they host the Patriots of George Mason University. Delaware will honor its lone senior, Liz Ommundsen, before the game.
