 NEWARK, DE -- Freshman Clar Farwell posted a game-high 13 kills and had eight digs to lead the University of Delaware volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-20, 30-12, 30-19) win over Colonial Athletic Association rival George Mason Friday evening at Barbara Viera Court.
For the Blue Hens junior Heather Ranck, who is ranked 28th in NCAA Division I in digs per game with 5.25, posted a game-high 18 digs while freshman Kelly Gibson made 13 kills. Senior Niecy Taylor recorded 10 kills and had a game-high four blocks, while sophomore Colleen Walsh added nine kills.
The Patriots Chantel Bodkin-Clarke had a team-high seven kills, while teammates Niki Bernardes and Jaqueline Kohler each recorded six kills.
Delaware, snapping a seven game losing streak, produced a season-high hitting percentage, of .440 in the three games.
Despite the loss, George Mason holds an 18-10 all-time advantage over the Blue Hens.
Delaware improves to 10-20 overall (6-11 CAA), while George Mason drops to 4-20 overall (1-16 CAA).
The Blue Hens will end their season tomorrow evening when they host CAA opponent James Madison for a 7 p.m. match. Seniors Erin Kardine, Megan McGrath and Niecy Taylor will be honored in pre-game ceremonies.
