 NEWARK, DE -- Tessa Sphar recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 14 digs to lead the Hofstra University volleyball team to a 3-0 (31-29, 30-18, 30-22) victory over the University of Delaware in Colonial Athletic Association action Friday evening at Barbara Viera Court.
Sophomore Colleen Walsh, who leads the CAA with 3.79 kills per game, had a team-high 13 kills for the Blue Hens. Senior Niecy Taylor returned to the Delaware lineup after missing nine matches and recorded nine kills and three blocks. Junior Heather Ranck posted a team-high nine digs, while freshman Clar Farwell notched eight kills.
Talita Silva posted 15 kills for the Pride, while teammate Catherine Durakis recorded a game-high 16 digs.
The match marks the 45th meeting between Delaware and the Pride, with Hofstra holding a 37-8 advantage all-time.
Delaware drops to 5-12 overall (2-4 CAA), while Hofstra improves to 9-6 overall (6-1 CAA).
The Blue Hens will be back in action Saturday, October 1 when they host Northeastern in CAA action for a 7 p.m. match.
