 HEMPSTEAD, NY -- Beverly Rivera recorded a double-double with 21 kills and 15 digs to lead the Hofstra University volleyball team to a 3-1 (30-20, 28-30, 30-28, 30-26) victory over the University of Delaware in Colonial Athletic Association action Sunday afternoon at the Volleyball Venue PFC.
Sophomore Colleen Walsh had a team-high 19 kills and posted 11 digs for the Blue Hens while junior Heather Ranck posted a team-high 26 digs. Freshman Kelly Gibson recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 14 digs while senior Niecy Taylor notched 12 kills. Sophomore setter Megan Welch returned to the lineup after suffering an injury earlier in the season and made 13 digs and had 51 assists while junior Claire McCormack had 14 digs and Kristine Gneiss had a match-high seven blocks.
Catherine Durakis recorded a game-high 41 digs for the Pride while teammate Tessa Sphar posted 10 kills and 23 digs. Lauren Engle had 14 kills and Elizabeth Curley had 11 in the victory.
The match marks the 46th meeting between Delaware and the Pride, with Hofstra holding a 38-8 advantage all-time.
Delaware drops to 9-20 overall (5-11 CAA), while Hofstra improves to 18-7 overall (15-2 CAA). Delaware is officially eliminated from CAA playoff contention.
The Blue Hens will be back in action Friday, November 11 when they host George Mason in CAA action for a 7 p.m. match.
