NEWARK, DE -- Freshman Sarah Ball had 21 kills as the UMBC volleyball team defeated the University of Delaware, 3-2, at Barbara Viera Court Tuesday
evening.
The Retrievers won the match by game scores of 24-30, 26-30, 30-24, 30-27 and 15-9 in the two teams’ 24th meeting all time. UD leads the series, 19-5.
Colleen Walsh led the Blue Hens with 21 kills, while Niecy Taylor posted 15 kills
and five blocks. Megan Welch recorded 59 assists, while Megan McGrath and
Molly Rand combined 21 kills for the Blue Hens, who had eight blocks in the
match.
Angela Anderson posted 14 kills for UMBC, while Christine Skala recorded 22
digs for UMBC, which finished with 17 blocks for the match.
Delaware drops to 2-5 overall, while UMBC improves to 2-4.
The Blue Hens will be back in action hosting CAA opponent Georgia State Friday, September 9 at 7 p.m at Viera Court.
