WILMINGTON, N.C. – Kelly Gibson (right) recorded another banner night with a game-high 20 kills and 11 digs as the University of Delaware volleyball team defeated UNC Wilmington, 3-0 (30-19, 30-28, 30-21) in Colonial Athletic Association action Friday night at Hanover Hall.
Junior Heather Ranck had a game-high 23 digs and three service aces, while senior Niecy Taylor posted 10 kills and had a team-high five blocks for the Blue Hens. Sophomore Colleen Walsh recorded nine kills, while senior Megan McGrath had eight kills and four blocks. Sophomore setter Alison Lutz had a game-high 43 assists.
UNC Wilmington was led by Kristin Maier who posted 11 kills, while teammate Kate Bennett recorded 19 digs. Christa Fulenwider had a game-high eight blocks for the Seahawks.
Delaware improves to 12-3 all-time against UNC Wilmington, winning the last five meetings.
Delaware improves to 9-13 overall and 5-5 in conference play, while the Seahawks fall to 3-15 overall and 0-10 in the CAA.
The Blue Hens will be back in action Sunday, October 16 when they continue their trip south to CAA opponent Georgia State for a 2 p.m. match.
