  William & Mary Defeats Delaware Volleyball in Five Games; Extends Win Streak to Eight Matches

NEWARK, DE- Mandy Mayo recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 17 digs to lead William & Mary over the University of Delaware volleyball team, 3-2 (30-26, 23-30, 27-30, 30-23, 16-14), in Colonial Athletic Association action Saturday evening at Barbara Viera Court.

Freshman Kelly Gibson, the current CAA Rookie of the Week, led the Blue Hens with 19 kills and 10 digs, while senior Niecy Taylor had a career-high 21 kills. Junior Heather Ranck matched her career-high with 31 digs, while sophomore Allison Lutz had a career-high 24 digs and posted 58 assists. Senior Megan McGrath recorded 12 kills, while teammate Colleen Walsh posted 11 and Claire McCormack had 12 digs.

Caitlin Geraghty posted a team-high 18 kills for the Tribe, while Kate Woffindin had 16. Kathleen Hawley had a team-high 26 digs, followed by teammate Erin Simmons with 11.

The match marked the 22nd meeting between Delaware and the Tribe, with the Blue Hens holding a 15-7 advantage all-time.

Delaware drops to 9-16 overall and 5-8 in the CAA, while William & Mary improves to 15-7 overall and 10-2 in the CAA, while winning its eighth straight match.

The Blue Hens will be back in action Tuesday, October 25 when they travel to Villanova for a 7 p.m. match.
