NEW HAVEN, CT -- Shannon Farrell recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs to lead Yale University to a 3-0 (30-25, 30-25, 30-23) win over the University of Delaware volleyball team in the Yale Classic Friday evening at John J. Lee Ampitheater.
Colleen Walsh and Kelly Gibson led the way for the Blue Hens each making a game-high 13 kills. Heather Ranck, who leads the CAA with 4.96 digs per game, had a game-high 16 digs. Clar Farwell added seven kills, while Megan Welch notched eight digs.
Nicole Perkins posted 11 kills for the Bulldogs, while teammate Renee Lopes made 10 kills.
The match marks the 9th meeting between Delaware and the Bulldogs, with Yale holding a 5-4 advantage all-time.
Delaware drops to 4-10 overall (2-3 CAA), while Yale improves to 6-1 overall.
The Blue Hens will be back in action Saturday, September 24 at the Yale Invitational, taking on Binghamton at 12 p.m. Delaware will finish the tournament with a 5 p.m. game against Iona.
