FAIRFAX, VA : The Delaware volleyball team bounced back to its winning ways Saturday evening at George Mason as the Hens downed the Patriots in Colonial Athletic Association action, 3-1 (30-26, 30-23, 25-30, 30-20) at John Linn Memorial Gymnasium.
For the Blue Hens, Kelly Gibson (right) and Colleen Walsh each posted a game-high 22 kills. For Gibson, it was her second highest kill total in in a match this season and she also added 15 digs. Freshman Michelle LaLonde put forth a solid effort tallying 17 kills while hitting at a .452 clip. Setter Megan Welch led the way with a game-high 67 assists to go along with 13 digs, one off her career-high. This was her third highest assist total of the season.
The Hens jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before the Patriots came out on fire in the third game. George Mason went up 13-5 and never looked back, taking the game 30-25. However, Delaware bounced back strong, hoping not to lose a fifth striaght match in the CAA, the Hens played excellent and took the match clinching fourth game 30-20.
Delaware improves to 15-5 and 6-5 in the CAA, while George Mason falls to 5-12 and 2-9 in conference play.
Georege Mason was led by Jaqueline Kohler, who recorded a team-high 13 kills and 22 digs. Teammate Katie Corcoran posted 35 assists for the Patirots.
The Hens will return to action Friday when they travel to Towson for a 7:30 p.m. start time.
