NEWARK, DE -- Junior Colleen Walsh (right) posted a game-high 16 kills to lead the University of Delaware volleyball team past Colonial Athletic Association foe UNC Wilmington, 3-0 (30-11, 30-21, 30-26), Friday evening at Barbara Viera Court.
The Hens improve to 13-1 overall and now sit second in the CAA with a 4-1 conference record. The Seahawks fall to 0-6 in the conference and 7-11 overall.
For the Blue Hens, sophomore Kelly Gibson recorded 13 kills while junior setter Megan Welch posted a game-high 43 assists. Heather Ranck led the team with 11 digs and posted a game-high five service aces.
Delaware dominated early, jumping out to an early 12-3 lead behind Ranck who served eight straight points, including two of her five service aces. The Hens never looked back as they cruised to the 3-0 win.
Paula McConnell and Christa Fulenwider led the way for UNC Wilmington with a team-high seven kills while setter Jill Hoeck tallied a team-high 23 assists for the Seahawks.
The Hens will return to action Saturday when they host Georgia State. Match time is set for 1 p.m at Viera Court.
