Delaware (14-3, 5-3 CAA), which has lost back-to-back games for the first time this season, put forth a valiant effort after falling behind early 2-0. The Hens fought back and won the third and fourth game to force a deciding fifth game. In the final game, VCU (10-8, 4-4 CAA) led 5-4 after Michelle LaLonde recorded her 13th kill of the match. However from that point on VCU dominated, winning four straight points to take a 9-4 lead and held on for the 15-10 win in the deciding game.

For the Blue Hens, junior Colleen Walsh tallied 16 kills and Megan Welch recorded 55 assists to lead the Hens. Heather Ranck posted a game-high 29 digs.

VCU was led by a balanced effort as five players recorded double digit kills including Ana Luiza De Borja with 21 and Ludmila Francescatto with 20 kills to go along with 20 digs.

The Hens will continue their road trip when they travel to William & Mary Saturday. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
