NEWARK, DE -- Katie Dennehy, Kelly Gibson, and Colleen Walsh each recorded 15 kills to help lead the University of Delaware volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-25, 30-28, 30-28) sweep of Georgia State at Viera Court on Friday night.

Dennehy led the Hens with a .414 attack percentage, while Walsh (at right) posted a .279 mark. Gibson also notched her eighth straight double-double after recording 15 digs to go along with her 15 kills.

Delaware (21-4, 6-2 CAA) mounted a gigantic comeback in the third game to record the win. Trailing 21-12 late in the final frame, the Hens called a timeout. Following the break in action, Delaware came out firing, going on an 18-7 run to finish out the match.

During the comeback, Gibson led the way, notching five kills. Walsh added three during that span, while Dennehy chipped in with two.

The first two games were also evenly matched with the teams playing to 11 ties.

In both of the first two sets, the Hens ended on 7-2 runs. Delaware clawed back from a late 26-23 deficit in the second game, while the team cruised to a 30-25 victory in the first game after the score was knotted at 23.

In the match, Megan Welch led the way with 44 assists, while Stephanie Barry had a team-high 19 digs. Michelle LaLonde also added seven kills and three blocks.

Georgia State (13-11, 3-5) was led by Amy Lusk, who posted a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs. Emily Dewey added a match-high 20 digs, while Noelle Boyd had a team-high 34 assists.

Entering the match, the Panthers had won three of the first four meetings with the Hens since they joined the CAA in 2005. However, Delaware has now won its last two home matches against Georgia State.

The Blue Hens return to action tomorrow when they host UNC-Wilmington at 7 p.m.
