RICHMOND, Va. – For the third time this season, freshman outside hitter Kim Stewart has been honored as the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week after leading the University of Delaware volleyball team to a split in the Blue Hens’ two conference matches over the weekend.

During the two contests, Stewart led the Blue Hens with 25 kills and tied for the team-lead with five blocks. She also ranked second with 27 digs and third with a .210 hitting percentage.

The only Blue Hen to reach double-figures in kills during each match, she has now posted at least 10 in six of the team’s last seven contests. Against VCU, she recorded 10, before chipping in with 15 more in Delaware’s 3-1 victory over William & Mary.

Stewart also was the only Blue Hen to post a double-double in each contest after adding 10 digs against the Rams and 17 against the Tribe. She has now recorded five double-doubles during her freshman campaign.

In addition to her 17 digs and 15 kills, Stewart posted a career-high four blocks against the Tribe and finished second on the team with a .286 hitting percentage.

Overall this season, Stewart ranks second on the team with 257 digs and third with 199 kills and 26 aces. Her five double-doubles are also the third most on the team, trailing only Jess Chason and Katie Dennehy.

Delaware has now had three straight Rookie of the Week selections. Elena Delle Donne won her third award last week after Stewart took home her second on October 20.

It was the fourth weekly conference honor for the freshman standout. Along with her three Rookie of the Week selections, she was also named the Co-Player of the Week on October 20.

In addition to Stewart, the CAA office picked Hofstra's Lauren Engle as the Player of the Week.

The Blue Hens return to action on Friday when the team hosts league-leading Northeastern at 7 p.m.
