NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware volleyball team will serve as honorary captains at this weekend's CAI/Easter Seals Volleyball Challenge held at the Carpenter Sports Building.
The Blue Hens will serve as captains during the fourth-annual Democrats vs. Republicans match on Saturday morning. Delaware, the two-time defending Colonial Athletic Association champions, will put the first serve in play prior to the match. Opening ceremonies are slated to begin at 8:40 a.m.
University of Delaware President Patrick Harker is also scheduled to attend the festivities along with several local politicians. The Democrats will be led into action by State Representatives Valerie Longhurst and Pete Schwartzkopf, who will serve as co-captains for the squad. Representative Greg Lavelle returns to guide the Republican team.
The Easter Seals is dedicated to raising funds and providing services to assist all people with disabilities or special needs and their families. The Delaware & Maryland Eastern Shore chapter is in its 60th year of service to the community.
