COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Delaware volleyball team capped its spring campaign by splitting four matches at the Terrapin Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Comcast Center.
During the day-long tournament, the Blue Hens squared off with Villanova, William & Mary, James Madison, and Maryland.
Delaware dropped a close match to the host Terrapins, falling 25-23, 25-23 in the two-set contest. The squad quickly rebounded, posting a 25-23, 25-20 victory over Big East power Villanova.
Later, the Hens split their two matches against fellow Colonial Athletic Association foes William & Mary and James Madison. Against the Tribe, Delaware fell 2-0 (25-23, 25-20) but bounced back to post a resounding victory over James Madison. The Hens closed out the tournament with a 25-13, 25-6 win against the Dukes.
"We were not as sharp as last weekend at Towson," said head coach Bonnie Kenny. "On a positive note, we did finish strong against JMU. We have one more week of training, and we will try to get our offense clicking so we can feel good about the progress we made this spring."
Delaware, which captured its second straight CAA championship in November, ends the tournament part of its spring season with a 5-3 record. Last week, the Hens went 3-1 during the Towson Tournament with their only loss coming to Penn State, the defending national champions.
