NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware volleyball team will travel down to South Campus and take on Towson in the squad’s regular season home finale during a special Colonial Athletic Association showdown at the Bob Carpenter Center on Friday, November 6 at 7 p.m.
The match will be the second one played at the BCC this season after a record-setting contest against North Carolina earlier this year. During that match, 2,517 fans packed into the arena to watch the Blue Hens post a thrilling five-set victory over the Tar Heels. The attendance was the highest for a collegiate volleyball match in the State of Delaware.
T-shirt tosses and a postgame autograph session with the team will highlight Friday’s festivities. The Delaware cheerleaders and dance team will also be accompanied by YouDee at the match. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Fans can purchase tickets for the volleyball match through Ticketmaster. The cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children 17 and under. Football and basketball season ticket holders can also receive a special discounted $2 ticket. For more information, please contact the season ticket office at (302) 831-2257.
Free tickets are being offered to UD employees for the match. Those tickets can be picked up now at the box offices in the Trabant University Center and the Bob Carpenter Center. Busing to and from the match will be provided for students, who can enter the match for free with their student ID. Delaware fraternity and sorority members will also receive CAP points for attending the match.
During the contest, UD students can also enter the drawing to participate in the Cockpit wing-eating contest at the 2009-10 Delaware Basketball Pep Rally at Buffalo Wild Wings on Monday, November 9 at 7 p.m.
The Blue Hens enter Friday sitting atop the Colonial Athletic Association standings. The two-time defending CAA champions currently are the highest-ranked team from the league in both the regional and national rankings.
