TOWSON, MD - Jill McGowan came off the bench to score a game-high 16 points, including four three-pointers, as host Towson University broke open a close game in the second half on the way to a 68-54 America East women's basketball victory over the University of Delaware Sunday at the Towson Center.

The Blue Hens (6-4, 0-2 America East), who had a three-game winning streak snapped, got 15 points and 13 rebounds from forward Renee Baker and 14 points from Cindy Johnson, but leading scorer Danielle Leyfert was held without a field goal and scored just two points.

The Hens suffered their 11th straight America East road loss since downing Towson Feb. 22, 1997.

Towson (6-4, 1-1) led 41-38 with 15:06 left to play but outscored Delaware 16-2 over the next 7:35 to take control of the game at 57- 40. The Tigers shot 63 percent from the field in the second half (17 of 27) and 52 percent for the game (29 of 56) while the Hens shot just 31 percent from the field (19 of 61) for the game.

Shniece Perry had 11 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists for Towson while Jess Gordon added 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Hens return to action Jan. 9 at Northeastern.
