Delaware Defeats Terriers 86-72 at Home

NEWARK, DE -- Danielle Leyfert led Delaware with 23 points, to help the Hens bounce back from their first home loss this season on Wednesday against Drexel, to defeat Boston University 86-72 on Saturday at the Bob Carpenter Center. The win against the Terriers complete a season sweep for the Blue Hens, and marked the first time Delaware had swept a conference opponent since the 1996-97 season when the Hens beat Boston University three times in one season.

Delaware got 18 points and seven rebounds from Cindy Johnson, while Danielle Leyfert had seven steals, which was one off a UD record, six rebounds and five assists to go along with her scoring effort. Freshman Lindsay Davis came off the bench to score a career-high 17 points, and Renee Baker had 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds for the Hens.

Boston University was led by Alison Dixon who had 22 points and a team-high eight rebounds, while Cara Millett had nine assists against Delaware for the second time this season. Freshman Dia Dufault also had 11 points for the Terriers.

Delaware played in a back and forth first half for the second game in a row and trailed 40-39 going into halftime after playing through a first half which saw 15 lead changes. The second half was closely contested, but at the 8:33 mark with Delaware leading 63-61 the Hens went on a 20-6 run to move the score to 83-67 as Delaware pulled away for the 14 point victory.
