UD Women's Basketball Sweeps New
Hampshire
NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware women's
basketball team
(16-9, 10-7) put five players in double figures to defeat
New Hampshire (18-6,12-5) 81-63 and complete its first ever
season sweep over the Wildcats.
Delaware, who ended the season 11-2 at the Bob Carpenter
Center, was led by Danielle Leyfert with 18 points,
five assists and four rebounds. Cindy Johnson had 16
points to extend her double figure scoring streak to 17
straight games. Chris Seifert had 15 points and six
rebounds, Megan Dellegrotti had 13 points and
Christina Rible had 10 points and six rebounds off
thebench.
Freshman Heidi Plencner had 20 points for New
Hampshire and AdrianDomanski had 13 points for the
Wildcats. Junior forward OrsiFarkas was held to
single figures for only the second time this season with
five points, both of those games came against the Blue
Hens.
Delaware trailed 11-9 with 15:53 left in the first half,
but wenton a 14-2 run to open up the score to 23-11. The
Blue Hens led athalftime 39-29. New Hampshire cut the
deficit down to five with16:12 left in the game at 43-38,
but Delaware moved the score backup to 48-38 with 15:12 left
and never looked back leading by asmuch as 25 points in the
closing minutes of the game.
