Rible tied season-highs with 20 points and 13
rebounds

FAIRFAX, VA-- Senior forward
Christina Rible (Little River, NJ/Red Bank) tied a
season-high by grabbing 13 rebounds to go along with 20
points in leading the University of Delaware women's
basketball team past Colonial Athletic Association opponent
George Mason University 72-62 Thursday night at the Patriot
Center.
Rible, shot 7 of 15 from the floor and 6
of 6 from the foul line to tie her season-high of 20 points,
while hauling down 13 boards for the third time this season.
Freshman forward Julie Sailer added 18 points and
junior guard Allison Trapp chipped in with 13 points
of her own as the Blue Hens (10-4, 4-2) put together
back-to-back conference victories for the second time this
season.
George Mason (9-8, 3-3), which lost
starting guard Laura Kooij just three minutes into the game
with an ankle injury, outrebounded the Hens 45-22 and shot
38.5 percent from the field and 20-34 from the foul line.
Jen Derevjanik led the Patriots with a game-high 23 points
while dishing out seven assists. Shelbylynn McBride added 14
points and Osato Edobor-Osula had 12 points.
Coming away with a crucial conference
victory on the road, head coach Tina Martin came away
satisfied with her team's performance, "I am really proud of
our girls, they executed down the stretch, took care of the
ball, and followed through with our gameplan the whole
game."
The Blue Hens also connected on a
school-record 25 straight free throws before senior Megan
Dellegrotti missed with 2:11 left in a game that saw
nine ties and nine lead changes before Delaware pulled away
with a 10-3 run with 3:11 left in the game, giving the Blue
Hens a decisive 10 point advantage.
Delaware, which avenged last year's 89-61
setback to the Patriots, shot 39.6 percent from the floor
and finished 32 of 34 from the foul line.
The Blue Hen continue conference action
when they host James Madison at the Bob Carpenter Center on
Sunday, January 20 at 1 p.m.
