NEWARK, DE -- Old Dominion guard TJ Jordan scored all 14 of her points in the second half, including four three-pointers in a seven-minute span, and Tish Lyons added 18 points, including four free throws in the final 18 seconds, as the Monarchs handed the University of Delaware its first home loss of the season with a 60 57 Colonial Athletic Association women’s basketball win Sunday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center.

The Blue Hens (18-6, 10-5 CAA), who had defeated the 14-time defending CAA champions in both regular season meetings a year ago, lost for the first time at home this season after 10 straight wins and had a streak of 11 straight regular season home victories snapped.

Old Dominion (16-7, 14-0 CAA) won its 14th straight game and remained unbeaten in league play as Jordan keyed a second half comeback for the Monarchs, who shot 52 percent from the field (14 of 27) in the second stanza to overcome 16 turnovers. Jordan added four assists while Sherida Triggs added 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Delaware, which lost at home for the first time since a setback to St. John’s in a Women’s National Invitation Tournament game to end the 2004-05 season, got 14 points and four assists from Melissa Czorniewy while Tyresa Smith added 11 points and Courtney Irving (at right) came off the bench to contribute 13 points and six rebounds. Smith, who was coming off a 16-rebound effort in Friday night’s 64-52 win over Towson, was in foul trouble for much of the game and finished with just one rebound.

Delaware, which played before a season-high crowd of 3,014 at the BCC, broke a 9-9 tie seven minutes into the game and led the rest of the first half, going up by as much as six points twice. The Hens took a 24-21 lead into halftime despite a three-pointer at the buzzer by Lyons.

The Hens upped the lead in the second half to as much as nine points at 32-23, outscoring the Monarchs 8-2 over the first two minutes of the second half as Irving scored six early points. Delaware still led with 11:45 remaining but Old Dominion took its first lead since early in the game at 37-36 with 11:03 left when Jordan, who had missed her first seven three-point attempts, hit her second straight three-pointer in a two-minute span.

Jordan connected on two more three-pointers over the next seven minutes, breaking a 44 44 tie with 5:45 to go. Delaware’s Czorniewy came right back to tie the game for the fourth time in the half at 47-47 with a conventional three-pointer 33 seconds later, but Triggs hit on two free throws 10 seconds later to put ODU up for good at 49-47.

Old Dominion increased the lead to as much as five points at 52-47 but the Hens narrowed the margin to two several times over the next four minutes, trimming the lead to 56-54 with 23 seconds left on a Smith jumper. The Hens let a chance to tie the game slip away when ODU’s Lawona Davis missed the front end of a one-and-one free throw opportunity with 20 seconds left but the rebound slipped out of the hands of Irving, giving the Monarchs possession.

Lyons connected on two free throws for ODU with 18 seconds left to up the lead to 58-54 before Blackstone converted a three-point play on a layup and free throw with nine seconds left to narrow the margin to 58-57. Lyons iced the win for ODU by hitting two free throws with three seconds left and Smith’s desperation shot from just inside the halfcourt line fell way short at the buzzer.
